Laren beats Cologne in a close game

March, 30th, EHCCC in Hamburg: RW Köln – MHC Laren 1:2 (1:1)

30.03.2013 - In the second match of the day at the EHCCC in Hamburg reigning champion MHC Laren celebrated a deserved 2:1-win over German champion Rot-Weiss Köln. Cologne started very courageously in the match and earned an early lead, when Francisca Hauke netted a rebound shot after 8 minutes. In the second quarter Laren took over control and equalized by a nice goal of Macey de Ruiter who converted a great pass from Miek van Geenhuizen.

In the second half it was again Cologne who had the better start, but the Germans missed two penalty corners in the first the minutes after the break. In the course of the match Laren became more and more dominant and in the end profited from a great move from Olympic Champion Kim Lammers, who converted a cross from the right side with a shot in the corner. In the final minutes Laren defended well and even had some counter attacks to advance the lead, but in the end the result remained with 2:1 for the Dutch champions.
