England with hard-fought 4:0 against Belgium

20.08.2011 - Olympic host England won its opening match at the GANT EuroHockey Championships against well prepared Belgians, but the score did not reflect the closeness of the game 4:0 (2:0).

Belgium began briskly, but after about ten minutes England took command. Alex Danson (14.) and Chloe Rogers (19.) scored before the break. Belgium came out of the cabin with a lot of confidence, but failed to perform dangerously near the circle. On the other hand England stayed cool and Crista Cullen (46.) and captain Kate Walsh (55.) scored with penalty corners. After that the Belgians weren`t able to come back and England had no problem winning the three points.
